Professor Atlas Scribe, PhD

Piled High and Deep in Le Bullshit Humain

Professor of Applied Human Fuckery

The WTF University (WTFU)

We don't make this shit up. Humanity provides the curriculum.

  • Professor Atlas Scribe holds a PhD (Piled High and Deep) in Le Bullshit Humain, awarded in recognition of extensive field experience observing, documenting, dissecting, and occasionally surviving the extraordinary bullshit generated by the human species.

  • Her research remains ongoing, largely because the fucking evidence won't stop arriving.

  • A lifelong student of human behavior, Professor Scribe specializes in examining the often spectacular discrepancies between what humans believe they're doing, what they claim they're doing, what they're actually doing, and what the available evidence suggests is happening.

  • Her academic work encompasses the study of human cognition, behavioral patterns, social conditioning, questionable reasoning, institutionalized absurdity, and the elaborate mechanisms through which humans repeatedly complicate their own existence.

  • She is particularly interested in the remarkable human capacity to construct elaborate explanations for things they have not adequately examined, defend assumptions as established facts, and normalize conditions that probably warranted investigation several fucking decades ago.

  • Professor Scribe's approach is characterized by intellectual curiosity, analytical rigor, irreverent observation, and a profound unwillingness to pretend that something makes sense simply because everyone has agreed to call it normal.

  • She maintains that "Fuck if I know" is a perfectly legitimate academic conclusion when the evidence does not support a more definitive answer.

  • She also maintains that humanity could save itself an extraordinary amount of trouble by learning the difference.

  • Universitas Unius Scholasticae, Nullius Auctoritati Subiecta

A University of One Scholar, Subject to No One's Authority.

The word university traces its origins to the Latin universitas, historically referring to a collective body or association.

  • The medieval expression universitas magistrorum et scholarium described a community of teachers and scholars.

WTF University has taken certain liberties with this arrangement.

    There is one scholar.

    Professor Atlas Scribe, PhD.

  • The faculty consists of the Professor. The academic departments exist because the Professor finds their subjects interesting.

The curriculum emerges from her investigations into human behavior, social conditioning, intellectual assumptions, historical narratives, and the seemingly inexhaustible evidence of human fuckery.

  • There is no academic hierarchy to climb, no committee whose approval must be secured, and no governing body empowered to determine what the Professor is permitted to investigate.

  • On the Question of Authority

WTFU makes an important distinction between intellectual independence and intellectual authority.

Professor Atlas Scribe exercises authority over her own creations: the university's structure, its publications, research agenda, academic calendar, editorial decisions, and commercial operations.

  • She claims no authority over the minds, beliefs, decisions, or lives of anyone else.

The Professor does not claim to possess definitive explanations for the human condition.

Her investigations may identify patterns, challenge assumptions, examine evidence, propose interpretations, and raise questions that are considerably more interesting than the answers currently available.

  • They are invitations to think, not instructions to obey.

Readers, students, customers, and visitors are entirely free to agree, disagree, question, criticize, ignore, or walk away.

Purchasing a publication does not constitute intellectual allegiance.

Enrolling in a course does not require adopting the Professor's worldview.

  • Submitting a Field Report does not transfer ownership of one's interpretation of reality to the university.

And disagreeing with the Professor is not an academic offense.

Indeed, it may constitute useful research material.

  • The Purpose of WTFU

WTF University does not exist to fix people, prescribe the correct way to live, or manufacture certainty where evidence does not justify it.

It exists as the intellectual universe of one independent scholar who enjoys investigating whatever the fuck she finds interesting.

  • Through books, courses, field guides, research publications, retellings, decodings, and other intellectual creations, the Professor examines assumptions, patterns, systems, explanations, and the curious ways humans construct and navigate their realities.

  • Those investigations are made available to anyone who finds them interesting or useful.

  • Some visitors may discover new ways of examining persistent questions.

Others may find an interpretation worth challenging.

Still others may simply enjoy the spectacle of a species being investigated by one of its own.

    All are acceptable outcomes.

  • The University Declaration

    Quaerimus, non praecipimus.

We investigate; we do not dictate.

  • The university recognizes no obligation to agree with its Professor, no requirement to participate in its investigations, and no intellectual authority beyond what evidence and reasoning can support.

  • Its research remains open to revision.

Its conclusions remain open to examination.

Its Professor remains free to investigate.

And humanity remains free to continue supplying the curriculum.

  • One Professor.

    One Independent Intellectual Universe.

    No Compulsory Bullshit.

WTF University — We don't make this shit up.

    Humanity provides the curriculum.

  • Fuckemetry — The Examination of What We Actually Know

The systematic separation of observation, interpretation, inference, assumption, hypothesis, evidence, and the genuinely unknown.

Primary research question: WTF do we actually know, and where are we full of shit?

  • Neurometry — The Examination of Human Internal Operations

The investigation of human cognitive, neurological, and behavioral processes, including the mechanisms influencing how humans perceive, interpret, respond to, and navigate their experiences.

  • Folkemetry — The Examination of Human Social Operations

The study of social conditioning, collective norms, inherited expectations, cultural patterns, and the astonishing variety of behaviors humans have normalized without necessarily establishing whether those behaviors make any fucking sense.

  • Applied Human Fuckery

The interdisciplinary examination of situations in which human cognition, behavior, relationships, institutions, expectations, and reality collide, often with entirely predictable yet persistently surprising results.

  • Professor Scribe's ongoing investigations include:

  • The normalization of human dysfunction and the institutional mechanisms that perpetuate it.

  • The difference between actual competence and the appearance of competence.

  • The peculiar human tendency to confuse familiarity with functionality.

  • The relationship between expectations, assumptions, and avoidable suffering.

  • The social architecture of obligations nobody remembers agreeing to.

  • The phenomenon of humans repeatedly doing things that demonstrably do not work.

  • The structural costs of relationships, roles, and responsibilities.

  • The mechanisms through which people become comfortably numb to conditions they once found unacceptable.

  • The recurring question of why humans insist upon making relatively straightforward things so fucking complicated.

  • Professor Scribe does not believe education should consist of telling people what to think, how to live, or which version of themselves they should aspire to become.

  • She considers that an extraordinarily presumptuous undertaking, particularly given the available evidence concerning the people doing most of the telling.

  • Instead, her teaching emphasizes examination, investigation, conceptual clarity, and the development of one's capacity to distinguish observable reality from the impressive amount of bullshit humans routinely construct around it.

  • Students are encouraged to question assumptions, examine evidence, identify structural patterns, challenge normalized dysfunction, and develop a working understanding of the systems influencing their own lives.

  • Agreement with the professor is neither expected nor required.

    ~

    Thinking is.

  • WTF University operates on a distinguished academic calendar known as The Equimesters, with two potential publication periods annually, aligned with the Earth's equinoxes.

  • Academic Calendar Policy

WTFU's existing courses, publications, and educational resources remain available year-round.

Enrollment is continuous, and students may pursue their studies independently.

  • The Vernal Equimester — March Equinox

The university's spring publication period, during which new courses, textbooks, research publications, field guides, and other scholarly investigations may be released.

  • The Autumnal Equimester — September Equinox

The university's autumn publication period, offering a second annual opportunity to introduce new academic materials, research findings, and investigations into the ongoing phenomenon of human fuckery.

  • Equimesters are publication opportunities, not mandatory production deadlines.

Professor Atlas Scribe reserves the right to publish extensively, release a single scholarly work, or skip an Equimester entirely, without explanation, apology, or the formation of an academic committee.

Special research expeditions, including crowdfunding projects, may operate independently of the Equimester calendar.

  • Academic Calendar: Governed by the Earth's orbit.

Publication Schedule: Governed by the Professor's discretion.

    Research Schedule: Perpetual.

    Enrollment: Year-round.

The university reminds all concerned that human fuckery does not observe academic calendars. Neither, necessarily, does the professor.

  • HUMAN 101 — Introduction to Humaning

  • An introductory examination of the human condition, its operating systems, recurring malfunctions, and the extraordinary number of things humans do without understanding why the fuck they're doing them.

  • Additional courses will be announced as Professor Scribe completes her investigations and determines that the resulting material warrants academic instruction.

  • The university declines to publish a fixed course development schedule, citing the unpredictable nature of both human behavior and its professor.

  • Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)

Piled High and Deep in Le Bullshit Humain

  • Conferred by the distinguished and entirely fictional academic establishment known as The WTF University.

  • Area of Concentration:

    Human Bullshit, Advanced and Applied

  • Dissertation:

What the Fuck Is Wrong with Humans? An Ongoing Investigation into a Species That Consistently Exceeds Expectations in Entirely the Wrong Direction.

  • Dissertation Status:

    Permanently Open.

  • Reason:

    Additional evidence continues to arrive.

  • "Fuck if I know" is a valid data state.

  • Just because everybody does it doesn't mean it makes any fucking sense.

  • Normal is a description of frequency, not evidence of functionality.

  • The absence of an explanation does not constitute permission to invent one.

  • Humanity remains both the subject of the research and its largest supplier of unsolicited field data.

  • By appointment with reality.

Professor Scribe does not currently maintain conventional office hours.

  • Students requiring clarification are encouraged to consult the available evidence, revisit the relevant course materials, and determine whether their question concerns something genuinely unknown or something they simply haven't examined yet.

  • For matters involving urgent human fuckery, the professor regrets to inform students that the department is experiencing unusually high demand.

This condition is expected to continue indefinitely.

A Note from Professor Atlas Scribe

I did not set out to become an expert in human bullshit.

Unfortunately, the human species has been extraordinarily generous with its research contributions.

At some point, the accumulated evidence became sufficiently substantial that establishing an entire university seemed like a reasonable administrative response.

And so, here we fucking are.

Welcome to The WTF University.

Let's study the fuckery.
